Good old fashioned service

May 24th, 2011

Our recent holiday led us to the Tweed and our experience was just brilliant.  The staff were very helpful and assisted us in organsing a special dinner with all of the family who visited us one evening.  They couldn’t do enough for us.

Baby friendly!

Excellent value for money, size of the apartment was great. We had two cots set up in the spare room with plenty of room everywhere. We’ll be back!

Accommodation near Tweed Hospital

April 6th, 2011

We recently spent two months at Tweed Ultima apartments as my husband was recuperating at the Tweed Hospital.

The staff were very helpful with me being in my 70′s I found the apartment very spacious with everything I needed.

I found the accommodation excellent and our family came and stayed with me when they visited their Grandfather.  It was a short 5 minute drive to the hospital and the younger ones could walk to the hospital in around 10 minutes.  We had a lovely seafood dinner in Coolangatta one evening and everything was so handy. The grocery store was right around the corner and I could leave my car in the underground carpark.  My husband and I would recommend Tweed Ultima to anyone visiting Tweed Heads and Coolangatta.

Fantastic choice for a relaxing girlie weekend!

May 19th, 2010

We arranged to have a girls’ weekend in late November and picked the Gold Coast as our destination given it was relatively central to all our homes (Townsville, Melbourne, Darwin, Sydney and Brisbane). Once we found a weekend that suited all of us and booked flights, we were disappointed to realise it was the first weekend of the Schoolies period! As five women in their mid-20s plus a four month old baby, we wanted to be well removed from any form of teenage revelry. So, we settled on Tweed Heads, which was a positive masterstroke by our chief organiser.

We booked the three bedroom penthouse, which was absolutely perfect for our needs. Mother and baby got their own room and bathroom (on the other side of the living area, which gave them privacy and us quietness!), and the four of us shared two rooms – one with two single beds and one with a queen bed. The beds were lovely, although I guess you could say the singles are on the narrow side (which could simply be me forgetting what it’s like to sleep in single!) We had a magnificent balcony overlooking the water and huge sliding doors that we kept open pretty much the whole time we were there. There was a lovely living area with an impressive plasma TV (it had cable and the music channel kept us very entertained), and a well equipped kitchen with a dishwasher. There was also a large outdoor dining setting that gave us a great place to sit (and somewhere to hang our wet bathers). It had a great laundry too, although we didn’t need to use it extensively over a two-night stay.

The complex itself was also quite impressive. The pool area was lovely and we spent plenty of time catching up in the spa, as well as in the refreshing pool itself. I agree with a similar reviewer that there could be more lounges, but there probably isn’t really enough room to justify the addition. We found lying on our towels to be an acceptable alternative.

The location was also a positive. We were about two blocks from the beach, which was a beautiful stretch of sand and had plenty of flagged areas for swimming. We weren’t after a thumping nightlife on this trip but were able to find plenty of places for meals including a delightful Thai take away just around the corner near the Cold Rock ice cream shop. A little shopping centre with two supermarkets was about a five-minute walk away – very convenient. There is also a lovely cafe next door that makes delicious coffee (and I’m from Melbourne, the coffee capital of Australia).

Booking was easy to do, they didn’t charge us for the baby’s cot and they enabled us a late checkout on Sunday, although we had to ring reception that morning to confirm it.

All in all, it was a great experience. We were all very happy with the price of the Coolangatta Accommodation, and it suited our requirements for a relaxing catch-up weekend perfectly.
